Warming Up to Real Solutions to Global Warming
Former Bostonian and ex-wife of Cheers Ted Danson leaves Hollywood and returns to her native New England roots at the Rhode Island International Film Festival with her award-winning documentary “Who's Got the Power?”
The festival runs from august 7 through 12 th in Providence .
“Who's Got The Power?” will be shown on Tuesday, August 8 at 3 p.m. in the Providence Library.
Danson's film features a number of scientists such as Donald Aitken, Stephen Schneider and Barbara Freese, who outline the damaging effects of climate change on the planet.
Danson's mission is to show us that the first place to start is the built environment. “Who's Got the Power?” highlights the current advances in solar technology that designers and builders are now implementing.
“Who's Got the Power?” leaves us with a positive message that we can reverse the effects of global warming ¾ that the power is in our hands.
Casey Danson established Global Possibilities in 1996, a non- profit devoted to promoting the use of solar energy as a viable alternative to fossil fuels. Prior to that, with Ted Danson, they founded the American Oceans Campaign. Danson served on the Board of Governors of the Parsons School of Design, the Board of Directors of the Southern Cal Institute of Architecture, and the Board of the Environmental Media Association.

Academy Award nominee Don Cheadle portrays the one and only Ralph Waldo “Petey” Greene Jr.; Petey's story is funny, dramatic, inspiring - and real. In the mid-to-late 1960s, in Washington, D.C., vibrant soul music and exploding social consciousness were combining to unique and powerful effect. It was the place and time for Petey to fully express himself - sometimes to outrageous effect - and “tell it like it is.” With the support of his irrepressible and tempestuous girlfriend Vernell (Taraji P. 06/28/2007 - Message from Eric Latek:
We are just launching the first promo trailer of one of the two shows we are doing. The first promo we have is for 3 Degrees, the show following the lives of a group of fighters, as they walk a new path in life. I get into their lives very deep, much like Gary, if not more. The Players will be launched next month. But you'll see why I have been spread so thin these days, between this show and The Players. Lots and lots of work my friends. Here's the link: www.phantazmapictures.com/SHOWS/COX/Promos/3Degrees Trailer2Lg_Prog.mov
Can either stream right from here or download the file. Mauro Colangelo did the fantastic score .
06/28/2007 - Subject: RECON 2022, Deaden at Fantasia Film Fest
Message: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MONTREAL, Canada, June 28, 2007
Movie Seals Productions is proud to announce that their latest sci-fi / action film \"RECON 2022:The Mezzo Incident\" and their critically acclaimed vigilante film Deaden will have their North American Premieres at the FanTasia Film Festival in Montreal, Canada.
From a screenplay written by Christian Viel, John Fallon and William Alexander, the action packed story of RECON 2022: the Mezzo Incident picks up two years after the events of the first film and introduces a new cast of endearing characters as well as bringing back familiar ones. After the gruesome events on Caprini, Sharp (Anderson Bradshaw) and his elite team of tough, witty and trigger happy space Marines must now head out to the icy planet Mezzo to investigate further Mahar activities. What they will encounter will defy their imaginations as they tackle giant man eating snow worms, an underground city of Cyborgs, a slew of murderous alien entities and maybe, finally, the ever elusive Mahars.
In Deaden, the story follows John Fallon as Rane, an ex-undercover cop forced to witness the brutal rape and murder of his pregnant wife (Anna Jaeger) by the ruthless members of a biker gang who have learned about his old policemen days. Shot through the head with a crossbow and dumped into a canal, Rane is believed to be dead... but miraculously survives the ordeal. Upon his exit from the hospital, he teams up with his old crime buddy Kersey (Deke Richards), arms himself to the teeth, and goes on a drug fueled, psychotic rampage all in the name of unapologetic retribution.
Deaden: Deaden will screen on July 14th, 2007 at 7:30 PM. Producer/Director Christian Viel and actor/writer/producer John Fallon will be attending and stay for a Q&A following the movie.

Artists' Exchange and the Black Box Theatre to Premiere Original Comedy
Cranston, RI – The Artists' Exchange, home of the Black Box Theatre, proudly announces upcoming performances of "Intermittence," an original play written by Rhode Island's own Mark Carter, featuring an original score by Tom Chace, Mark Carter, Rich Morra and the Black Box Players.
Grounded by the evolving love story of protagonists Harold and Margaret, the play sashays down a road of absurdity, stopping frequently to ponder such roadside attractions as an android, a disembodied voice and a talking owl. "It's totally not meant to be taken seriously," Carter self-effacedly declares. "If it makes people forget their dentist appointment for a couple of hours, it's done its job."
"Can I insert the fact that it's awesome?" adds Carter's 11 year old daughter Emily, who acts in the play and also helped to design the playbill cover.
"It is the most serious interpretation of nonsense ever to hit the stage," exclaims Director Rich Morra.
"Intermittence" will be performed Friday 6/29 and Saturday 6/30. The Friday performance will be at 7pm. Saturday performance 2pm and 7pm. Tickets are $15. The show is recommended for audiences over 12 years of age. Reservations, which are strongly encouraged, can be made by calling 401.490.9475.

06/02/07 - CAUGHT IN THE HEADLIGHTS
Broadcast Premiere on Montana Public
Television
Caught in the Headlights, 53 minutes, 2006
< http://www.highplainsfilms.org/fp_caught.html>
Press Kit: <http://www.highplainsfilms.org/fp_caught_presskit.html>
CAUGHT IN THE HEADLIGHTS, which documents the conflict between wildlife and
automobile culture will have its broadcast premiere, June 7 at 7 pm on Montana
Public Television <http://www.montanapbs.org/>. Repeat broadcasts at
4:30 pm on June 9 and 8:30 am on June 10.
In the United States where over four million miles of roads cross the landscape,
an animal is killed on the road every 11.5 seconds - with one million vertebrate
animals falling victim to automobile collisions annually.
Through the voices of six individuals who are intimately familiar with vehicle-wildlife
conflicts, CAUGHT IN THE HEADLIGHTS is a quirky, informative exploration of
automobile culture. Two Department of Transportation employees combine humor
and sensitivity while taking the viewer on a tour along Montana's state highways.
A Wildlife rehabilitator since childhood turned raptor educator, painter, and
welder, shares her work and perspective of the hardships that birds face in
a world where car collisions are the leading cause of injury and death for
raptors.
Raising a child as a single father may be hard; try combining that with an
hour long commute to work through prime deer and elk habitat. One auto-body
painter tells stories of close calls with wildlife on the road while warning
of societal stubbornness.
A road ecologist from the Netherlands studies opportunities for creatures to
cross roads safely while providing his own social commentary on the past, present
and future of our transportation infrastructure.
Another man seeks apology and ceremony by turning roadkill into bronze sculptures.
His bold artwork challenges us to examine our dependency on the automobile
through death preserved on the walls of a Seattle-area gallery.
CAUGHT IN THE HEADLIGHTS weaves together these diverse voices united in their
reverence for the long ignored casualties of the highway.

- The future of the
Internet, cable TV and local media is threatened in Massachusetts.
Large phone companies faced a massive public outcry in
2006 when they attempted to pass a terrible telecommunications
bill in Washington. Now they're pushing a law in Boston
that would undercut local authority, threaten public access
channels and cut off many communities in Massachusetts
from accessing new technologies.
You can help stop this bad bill by taking action today.
The Joint Committee on Telecommunications, Utilities and
Energy is holding a hearing on Senate Bill 1975 on Tuesday.
Here's how you can help:
1 Email Your State Legislators
Phone companies are spinning Massachusetts state representatives
with promises to bring competition to cable television
and broadband Internet services. Yet SB 1975 will not achieve
these results. Your legislators need to hear from you today.
Tell them to oppose SB 1975.
Tell your elected state officials to oppose any legislation
that does not preserve local television, protect consumers
against discriminatory pricing, or guarantee that new communications
technologies are offered to all communities throughout
the state.
2 Tell Your Friends
Due to a large public outcry, concerned citizens recently
defeated a similar legislation in Tennessee. By telling
your friends and family to take action we can stand up
against the millions of dollars spent by Verizon lobbyists
who are trying to pass this bill.
3 Attend the Legislative Hearing in Boston
The hearing will be open to public comments. Please take
the time on Tuesday to got to the state house and voice
your opposition to this bill.
WHAT: Joint Committee on Telecommunications, Utilities
and Energy on SB 1975
WHEN: Tuesday, June 5
TIME: 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
WHERE: Massachusetts State House, Gardner Auditorium, Boston
Click here for more details about the bill.
Every community -- rich or poor, rural or urban -- deserves
the benefits of new technology and competition.
With your help, we stood up the phone companies in Washington.
It's now time protect media policy in your home state.
Onward,
Ira Horowitz

P.S. You can do more. Take action every day for the next
week to help stop this bill. For more information about
